A parent told a younger member (10-13) of my family that she needed to "be careful" with Homestar. That phrase usually has similar meaning to "be careful on the Internet" for them, which would imply that Homestar about 75% good when it's more like 97%. How do I convince him it's not so bad?

Amen to that. Compared to what 13 year olds watch, homestar is squeaky-clean. I'm not saying everything is suitable for kids, but it's really not that bad.
:hr: = :)

If a parent were to think H*R was that bad, they may as well not send their kids to school past second or third grade. You read about violent wars and stuff in school.

I would have been about that age when I started watching Homestar and I showed quite a few to my parents. They didn't like it. Not that they thought it was inappropriate, but they didn't get the humor and couldn't understand the voices (must be kind of like the bells from Polar Express, lose imagination and you can't hear it). But I'm rambling...

What you would need to explain to the parents is the intelligence behind it. How Homestar features classic archetypes and modernizes them and has a lot to say socially about our lifestyle and pop culture.

Okay, now I really want someone to write a term paper about Homestar Runner.

I'm already doing a Theatre Arts Storytelling Project with the first H*R story (the book they wrote).

Heheh, maybe she thinks Strong Bad is a bad influence.

Actually, my mom doesn't like Homestar Runner as a rule. We can't stand the stuff the other watches nor the music we listen to.

No offence but that seems to be a bit over protective. Its not like Homestar endorses drugs or anything.

I once showed my dad "shapeshifter". He hated it and walked off halfway through.

Actually this is probably a retaliation to Strong Bad's treatment of Nice Dad.

I showed my mom four sbemails. Narrator, army, theme park, and technology. She found all of them hilarious, especially the Riverquest Safariventure in theme park. Guess it just depends on the parent. :-|

Same'd. My mom's seen theme park (she also liked Rivergust Safariventure), A Folky Tale, videography, Pom Pom's Character Video, and pom pom. She liked them all, but I think pom pom was her favorite. I guess it does depend on the parent. ;)

My grandmother was listening in while me and my brother were watching "imaginary". She thought it was a riot. Then again, she uses language far worse than you'll ever see in a Homestar cartoon.
